Compare products against a clearly stated buying need using current, attributable facts. Explain each criterion, show important differences and limitations, and distinguish verified capabilities from information you have not confirmed. A comparison is more useful when a buyer can trace the evidence and understand where either option may fit.
Build an evidence table
For each criterion, record the claim, the source, the plan or version it applies to and the date checked. Mark an unresolved item as unconfirmed. If the comparison uses an actual test, describe the setup and preserve the result that supports the statement.
Put commercial qualifications beside the price or feature. A headline price without usage conditions can mislead a buyer even when the number itself was copied correctly.
Make the page useful beyond the sale
Explain when a different option could be appropriate. A reader should leave with a clearer selection framework even if they do not choose your company. Link to implementation and measurement guidance where a comparison raises another question.
Review the page when a referenced offer changes. Provide a correction route and keep a record of substantial updates so the comparison does not silently become a historical claim presented as current advice.
What to check
- Choose the audience and the decision before selecting comparison criteria.
- Use dated official documentation or direct tests for feature and pricing claims.
- Include limitations and an update owner; avoid unsupported “best” or superiority claims.
A practical example
A reporting tool and an implementation platform may overlap in monitoring but differ in who publishes changes. Compare collection coverage, source evidence, publishing responsibility and review workflow separately. Do not treat the absence of public documentation as proof that a capability does not exist.
