The short answer

State the comparison purpose, selected properties, evidence and date. Use verified criteria for factual comparisons, and label an editorial shortlist as editorial. Do not present outreach order, a website checklist or a single AI answer as a hotel-quality ranking or a market-wide recommendation score.

Define the comparison before choosing a winner

A useful comparison names the traveler’s decision and the conditions that matter. A weekday business stay may have different relevant facts from a leisure stay, and current rates require a separate live check.

When evidence is unavailable, mark the criterion as unassessed. An empty observation should not become a negative score or a claim that a property lacks a service.

Keep the public shortlist separate from the audit

Arrow’s five Miami hotel rankings show property names, official source links, logos and proposed audit topics. The sample is selected from the official tourism bureau directory within disclosed study areas, while ranked scores come from the published 28-criterion guest-information rubric. These guest-information coverage scores are not observed AI recommendations or hotel-quality ratings.

A later AI observation study needs its own method and date. It should not silently relabel the existing guest-information coverage assessment as a measured position in a consumer AI product.

What to check

  1. State selection rules and the decision being compared.
  2. Attach a source to each factual claim.
  3. Label editorial order and unavailable evidence clearly.

A practical example

An illustrative comparison checks verified policy facts for a defined stay scenario and leaves availability unassessed until dates are supplied. It avoids awarding a fabricated overall “best hotel” score.
