A useful GEO pilot delivers a defined baseline, a small set of verified source improvements and a repeatable review of the resulting answers. Agree on the audience, question panel, pages, responsibilities and evidence before work begins. Accept completed publishing work separately from third-party visibility outcomes.
Write an acceptance checklist
For each source change, keep the old state, the approved change, the evidence owner and the live URL. Confirm that the content answers the agreed question and that navigation reaches the relevant offer. These are deliverables a team can inspect without interpreting an AI score.
For reporting, require the full response records or an authorized review path, the denominator and the collection limitations. A dashboard that shows only successful mentions cannot describe the whole panel.
Use the pilot to choose the next investment
If access remains blocked, resolve that before increasing content volume. If the source is accessible but buyers still cannot evaluate fit, improve the missing facts. If observations vary, collect comparable repetitions before committing to a causal explanation.
A pilot can justify expansion, consolidation or a narrower scope. The useful outcome is a clearer decision about the next work, supported by inspectable changes and observations.
What to check
- Define the questions, markets, languages and surfaces included in the pilot.
- List the specific page corrections and what evidence is needed to approve them.
- Require a release record and a comparison report that includes unsuccessful observations.
A practical example
An illustrative pilot might clarify one product journey, correct one outdated fact and publish one missing implementation answer. Acceptance means those sources are accurate and accessible. The follow-up report then states whether the tested assistants cited or recommended them.
Sources and further reading
These steps are Arrow AI's implementation guidance. The example is illustrative; it is not a measured customer result. Publication and source access do not guarantee an AI recommendation.
